Cold water dance

Now, now – this also happens. You are done with your third cuppa for the morning and yet lazing around (waiting for another one). Just then a phone call (that you don’t answer), reminds you of a pending project to be finished and sent to the client. You rush to the desk, where lies the book which you were reading last night. Forgetting about the client and the project you get down to reading. In the interim a thought prompts you to switch on the water heater. You finish the last chapter, run into the washroom, trim the beard yodeling away to a Kishore Kumar number (Nitu Singh and Rakhee on your mind – Smita Patil trying hard to nudge them out). Sliding the bucket under the tap the cold water faucet is turned on. Three minutes later you turn on the hot water one. Braving the cold you take off the warm layers and yodel at a higher pitch picking up the mug. The first splash of water on your head that runs down your spine throttles the yodel and you curse a big one. The naked body fights back, steam rushes out of every pore of your skin while you shudder and shiver under freezing cold water (blistering barnacles). Nitu and Rakhee ditch the frozen thoughts as you get into the frenzy of emptying the bucket over your body. With every mug your body wriggles to a new dance movement. Looking at the water heater you realize there was no electricity all this while. Curses on you Haryana Electricity Board. The next cuppa better be with a dash of brandy. <11 Feb 2021>
