Rest in peace, Comrade.
Prof Aijaz Ahmad one of the finest Marxist scholars of our times, passed away yesterday after a brief illness. Prof Aijaz taught for years at various universities in the US and Canada. He was a Senior Fellow at the Tricontinental Institute for Social Research. We, at Ishtihaar, express deep sorrow at his demise. Our association with the outstanding intellectual, through Sahmat, and as a friend led us to interact with him on many occasions when he visited India. Prof Aijaz authored numerous essays and many books of which the last one was designed by Ishtihaar in 2020. His kind words always encouraged us. His last email to us reads:
“Dear Comrade, Both covers are attractive. If you prefer the colour one that would
be just fine. Regards Aijaz Ahmad”
